The free app allows members to view class schedules and descriptions, find clubs with information on amenities offered at each location, and redeem exclusive mobile offers, all while on the go.

SOUTH TAHOE LAUNCHES FREE MOBILE APP TODAY

May 3, 2011 (South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.) – Lake Tahoe South Shore just got more social today (http://www.TahoeSouth.com) launching its free mobile app ‘Tahoe South’ making traveling more convenient, fun and an easy way to connect/share with friends. Features include events calendar, outdoor recreation, activities, weather and road conditions, accommodations, businesses direct calling and GPS-enabled mapping that detects current locations to the nearest facilities. Sharing features allow users to upload content instantly to social networks: Facebook, Twitter, etc., from their phones.

Travelers will access the latest info on current news like the upcoming Echo Summit Project scheduled May 11 (www.way2tahoe.com), including details about the alternate routes, dates/times of construction as well as ‘push notifications’ (or opt in text message sent directly to phone) when the project is completed.

The app will also keep users apprised of what’s happening, live updates and results during major sporting events at South Shore this summer including the Amgen Tour of California, May 15, and the 22^nd annual American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament, July 12-17.

According to a recent article on apps in SFGate.com the Nielsen Co. revealed research that showed iPhone owners have an average of 48 apps and 68 percent frequent their apps with daily use (April 28, 2011).
